How to let my Fiance know I want a Bridal Set?
My Fiance proposed to me with his Grandmother's pearl heirloom ring, and it is beautiful. I will be having a birthday before the wedding and I know he's been saving up for something nice, and I was thinking since I have to buy a wedding band anyways, I could get a lovely bridal set, with the solitaire and wedding band together. A wedding band won't fit on my finger right with the heirloom ring and I'd like to wear the "engagement" ring and wedding band together. He has mentioned that he would liket o buy me a ring of my own, and I was thinking this would be a good opportunity. It's not that I don't love and appreciate the heirloom ring, I would love to wear it near my heart on a necklace or on my right hand. I just figured we could get more bang for the buck with a bridal set.
Do you think this is okay?
And how can I mention this to him?
You: "Hey, honey, I'd really like a bridal set."
Him: "What's that? (He's a guy, so he probably won't know)"
You: "Its... and I'd like it because..."
Him: "Alright."
It isn't that big of a deal. Clearly you appreciate his grandmother's ring, but if he has already mentioned getting you your own ring, then your suggestion is fine. My hubby is in the Army, and we got married prior to a deployment, so he didn't have enough money for an engagement ring. He got me a three stone diamond ring, but the diamonds were all the same size so it looks like an anniversary band. I love that ring, but he felt so bad about not being able to save up more for a ring, that eventually he bought me a new engagement ring. I now wear the original engagement ring as an anniversary band, the newer engagement ring, and my wedding band together. I suggested that to him when he said he wanted to get me a newer engagement ring. He was fine with it.
Just say it to him. If he loves you, he'll understand, and he'll take your opinion into consideration.
